Travis Hodgkins, Attorney

We've been there.
Your case is our case.

Travis Hodgkins founded Civil Justice to answer a need for tough, knowledgeable, and affordable legal protection for employees and consumers. This is a need he has felt personally, both as an hourly worker and as a consumer.

The understanding he shares with his clients makes him a compassionate legal ally and a tireless advocate for the employees and consumers he serves.

Informed by deep experience, driven by his clients’ courage, and inspired by the civil rights victories of the past, Travis looks forward to continuing to fight for the underdog for years to come.

More About Travis

Since graduating from law school in 2008, Travis has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his clients in California through individual lawsuits and class actions in both state and federal court. For a number of years, his recoveries in employment law have been recognized as some of the largest in California.

Prior to being an attorney, Travis worked as an hourly employee at all sorts of jobs, and the understanding he shares with his clients makes him a compassionate legal ally and a tireless advocate for the employees he represents. Informed by more than a decade of litigation experience, driven by his clients’ courage, and inspired by the civil rights victories of the past, Travis looks forward to continuing to fight for the underdog for years to come.

Travis has successfully litigated individual lawsuits and complex class action cases across multiple industries, including retail and wholesale businesses, dining and hospitality, convenience stores, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, warehousing, food processing, entertainment, finance and banking, insurance, technology, and temporary staffing. These cases have dealt with issues including discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, requiring employees to work while off the clock, unpaid minimum wages, unpaid overtime wages, failure to provide meal breaks and rest breaks, and misclassifying employees as exempt or as independent contractors.

Travis also handles appeals before the California Courts of Appeal, the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of The United States.

Though law is Travis’ passion as well as his career of choice, he is also an accomplished writer. In addition to founding and co-authoring the Transnational Law Blog, which was recognized as one of the top 100 legal blogs in the nation, Travis writes novels, screenplays, and short stories. He also served on the Board of Directors for Red Hen Press, one of the largest non-profit literary press in the United States.

His other hobbies include aviation, martial arts, yoga, sailing, SCUBA diving, and international travel.
